Dear friends and colleagues,
We hope this message finds you healthy, safe, and in good spirits as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time. We, like many of you, are looking forward to the future where we will be able to once again meet safely in-person with colleagues and friends from nearby and around the world. We are confident that IPR 2021 will mark that occasion, and are pleased to confirm that plans are well underway for a traditional in-person meeting in Rome hoping that a safe and effective vaccine is widely available. If an in-person meeting is not possible for some, or all, we are developing contingency plans for alternative solutions, such as a hybrid meeting (in-person and online) or a full online meeting. Rest assured knowing that we will keep you updated if there is a need to amend the delivery format, and know that we stand committed to providing our memberships with an outstanding annual meeting.
At this time, we warmly invite you to submit abstracts of your scientific work to the 8th International Pediatric Radiology (IPR) congress, which will be held in Rome, Italy from June 15 to 19, 2021. The abstract submission page is now open. The submission categories are delineated on the website and include oral presentations, electronic educational exhibits, electronic scientific posters and educational exhibit posters.
Since the inaugural IPR was convened in Toronto in 1987, the IPR has grown into a global event which outlines where pediatric radiology stands today, and envisions where it will lead in the future. Quite aptly, this meeting’s theme is: “Building on the Classics: History, Innovation and Inspiration” which highlights the continuity of growth in knowledge in the pediatric imaging field. In addition to the presentation of the best scientific research in pediatric radiology, the planning committee has developed an awesome educational program which will be presented by a star-studded international faculty. The educational program includes five focused pre-course colloquiums, two categorical courses imbedded throughout the week as well as sunrise sessions and case discussions. The program is designed to meet the educational needs of everyone.
The five pre-course colloquiums will be held on Monday June 14th and the morning of June 15th before the official IPR meeting convenes at 1pm. These colloquiums will focus on specific areas of innovation and controversy in pediatric radiology and include fetal/placental imaging, child abuse controversies, advanced MRI physics, World Federation of Pediatric Imaging and Post-mortem imaging. During the main meeting, there will be two concurrent categorical courses. One will focus on the “basics of pediatric radiology” and is designed for trainees, general radiologists and those who wish to refresh their knowledge of the essentials of pediatric imaging. The other categorical course will focus on “pediatric imaging for the subspecialist” and will target cutting edge and controversial aspects of pediatric radiology. Other highlights will include the IPR Olympics, the Jacques Lefèbvre/Edward B. Neuhauser Lecture, a full social program as well as a free afternoon on Thursday to explore the delights of Rome.
We invite not only members from the two organizing societies – the European Society of Paediatric Radiology (ESPR) and The Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR) – but all pediatric radiologists and imaging specialists from every nation to Rome to liaise professionally, to meet old friends and to make new ones.
Rome – The Eternal City – provides the most spectacular backdrop to the meeting with over two thousand years of art, culture and history. There is more to see and do in Rome than in any other city in the world. As a historic place, it is unsurpassed; as a contemporary European capital, it is utterly unique. Rome always exhibits its incomparable capacity for warmth and welcome, its taste for life and enjoyment. As the location of the IPR 2021 meeting, Rome will give participants that “plus” that no other place can really provide, and will certainly make their stay memorable.
Welcome to Rome and… “ a presto! “
